Set Your Goals!

With the worst defeat in franchise history behind us, we can all look forward to the remaining seven games of the Summer season. I think we should use the remaining games this season to set individual goals for things each of us can work on with regards to our own performance leading into the Fall 2007 season.

Please use the comment section of this posting to share with the team three aspects of your individual game that you feel could use some work and you are commited to improving. My thought is that a public pronouncement of these things will keep us all a little more honest, and might prompt encouragement or reminders from our teammates as we rise and fall with our individual goals.

I'll be the first to admit my shortcomings in the comment section. I hope you'll all do the same. Just a reminder for those of you who have not signed up as an author for the blog: you don't need to be an author to leave comments. Anyone can participate in the comments section.

My Goals for the Summer Season!

1. Less Time in the Box Chatting Up the Score Keeper: The PIM's Crown is a dubious honor, at best. This team needs offense, and we spent 20 minutes less on the attack last season due to my ass grooves on the penalty bench.

2. Score More: it would seem I left my offensive game on the inline hockey rink. In my 5 years with the Cryptic Stench as a defenseman, I amassed 99 points in 217 games (34 G, 65 A). I'd like to find my game again. I'd like to record 4 points by the end of the Summer season and be a point-every-other-game player.

3. Close the Gap: I'd like to position myself closer to attackers in the neutral zone to make plays earlier, and taking away their option to shoot, or use me as a screen while shooting.

4. Finish in the black: since we're recording +/- this season, I'd like to finish the Summer season on the + side of that statistic.

If I'm failing to live up to any of these goals Stormtroopers, please give me a nudge.

My goal...just score. (and win.)

And stay positive....

And play with heart!

And continue to have a good time!

Things for me to improve on....
1. Skating (espeically cross over from left to right, and backwards cross over)
2. My shooting.
3. Receiving passes while on the move.

1. Not get beat in the neutral zone. I've had a few people fly by me when it's one and one and I think I have enough speed while skating backwards but they still go around me and I leave the goalie in a bad position.

2. Stickhandling. Both receiving passes and making passers quicker without waisting time. Of course just carrying the puck needs improvement as well.

3. Do not get over confident. Continue to work on and improve things that I have worked on in the past as new skills need to be worked on to stay sharp.

4. (yeah that's right 4) Make my own rap video with Star Wars clips and my own dope ass lyrics son!

1. Play smarter when I don’t have the puck. ( lots of little things here )

2. Look up more when I have puck.

3. Play more physical (without taking penalties), especially in the offensive zone.

4. Score some freakin goals!

I could have 100, but I'll try to limit them ...

1. Finishing off the chances that I do get, and getting more chances to finish off.
2. Play smarter and with greater focus with and without the puck.
3. Staying in my defensive zone.
4. Going back 10 years in time so that I can be faster than I am now ...
